HALLOWEEN FUNDRAISER

The fundraiser day went really well. Everyone dressed up and my class raised £260. This money will go towards our college day out to the pantomime.
SPECIAL EFFECTS

Wigs up north is a company who specialise in wigs and makeup. The company was established in 2004 when two college friends noticed a gap in the thetrical wig making market in the north of the country. With premises and a website the business grew they also noticed a gap in the market for proffessional makeup suppliers in the north, so opened up this as part of the business.

“It would be fair to say that when we began Wigs Up North!, we never anticipated that the company would grow to what it is today. All of us consider customer care and professional standards to be core values of our company. By listening to our clients, the company has grown organically and gained our good reputation through word of mouth. It is something we are immensely proud of”.

I am hoping to build up on my special effects kit and wigs up north is where i will probably purchase some items from.
INTERVIEW/TIPS/TUTORIAL

You Tube is a great website full of videos on make up tutorials. It is great because most videos take you through the make up application step by step.
There is a wide range of videos on this site, using all different types of makeup, from special effects to classic smokey eyes.
I would recommend everyone to look at Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Brown is the founder of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, She has several makeup tutorial videos on You Tube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_iAG4BFyKc

HALLOWEEN

One of my favourite times of the year is Halloween. Dressing up and face painting is something me and all my friends love to do.
Some of my friends get right in the spirit and have several Halloween costumes.
Unfortuanly I wasnt well this year so missed out on all the fun during the day at college and at night  with my friends.
The college class had a fun day where they all dressed up. They had cakes and sweets for sale, raffles and a lot of the class did face painting and special effects make up for the other students.
This was all done to raise money for our college trip to the pantomime.
PROGRAMMES AND PRODUCTIONS

Shed productions, is an independent UK television production company, specialising in contemporary original drama programming and content.
The Scottish part of the company www.shedmediascotland.com is working right near the college in Greenock, filming the BBC television programme Waterloo Road.
The show is now on its seventh series.

River City is also filmed in the Glasgow area of Dumbarton. The show is Scotland's own soap. It was first broadcast in 2002. So has now been running for ten years. It's good to know there are job opportunities out there in television, which are on our doorstep.
PRODUCTIONS AND THEATRES IN SCOTLAND

With the Christmas season nearly upon us, it's time for most theatres to show their annual pantomimes.
Cinderella is on at the Kings theatre in Glasgow , and my college class is going to attend the matinee performance in December.
The Pavilion in Glasgow is also hosting their pantomime which this year is "The wizard of never woz" I love panto and go every year with all the kids in my family. I love the eccentric costumes, makeup and wigs.

MAKEUP IN FILMS YOU LOVE

WHITE CHICKS
2 Black men work for the FBI and have to work under cover as 2 white females.
It took up to 7 hours a day to create this look. Plaster casts of there faces were made and layers of foam latex were used to soften there strong jaw lines. A water based acrylic paint was used along with revlon colour stay foundation to change the actors skin colour.
Makeup Artists Will Huff and Greg Cannom

SEX AND THE CITY
I love the movie sex and the city 2. The girls head to abu dhabi on holiday and the fashion, hair and makeup are fitting to the country they are in. I love it when carrie draws on the thick black eyeliner.

ZOMBIELAND
Zombieland is another film where the majority of the cast wear special effects makeup,
to portray the characters of zombies.
Lots and lots of fake blood was used.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND
Johnny Depp is unrecognisable with his curly orange hair, pasty skin and pink makeup as he plays the mad hatter in Tim Burtons adaption of alice in wonderland.

Tim Burtons wife, Helena Bonham Carter plays the role of the queen of hearts and in the film her head is digitally swelled to play the red queen.

THE GRINCH
The prosthetic makeup Jim Carry wore to become the grinch took three hours to apply each day. The prosthetics from the movie were on display at universal studios horror makeup show in orlando in september 2010, so people could see how much work went into making the character.
